Severe Weather Threatens Southeastern Wisconsin with Multiple Storm Rounds
MILWAUKEE — Southeastern Wisconsin is preparing for multiple rounds of potential showers and storms, with severe weather likely overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.
- Enhanced Risk: The Storm Prediction Center has raised the region’s risk level to an enhanced risk, level 3 out of 5.
- Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Initially issued Monday evening for southwestern counties, the watch was canceled before 10:45 p.m. Another watch was issued at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday for Dodge, Fond du Lac, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, and Washington counties.
- Primary Concerns: Damaging winds with gusts of 60-70 mph and a very small chance of isolated tornadoes.
- Ground Conditions: Recent significant rainfall has softened the ground, increasing the risk of power outages due to vulnerable trees.
- Future Forecast: Another round of potentially strong storms is expected Tuesday afternoon near the Wisconsin-Illinois state line. Tuesday will be hot and muggy with a high near 90 degrees. Wednesday and Thursday should be dry, but more storms are anticipated on Friday.
