U.S. Faces Heatwaves and Rocky Mountain Snow

Weather Extremes Sweep Across the U.S.

Summary:
After enduring significant flooding, Florida and several other states are now preparing for an intense heat wave. Meanwhile, the Pacific Northwest is set to experience unseasonably cold weather, with potential snow in the Rocky Mountains early next week. Severe thunderstorms are forecasted between Nebraska and Wisconsin, with possible flash flooding, while eastern Montana and the Dakotas could also see strong storms.
Tropical moisture will bring heavy rain to the central Gulf Coast, and although Florida’s threat of heavy rain is diminishing, local flooding is still a concern due to saturated ground. Southern Florida recently faced severe flooding with up to 20 inches of rain.
As temperatures rise across the southern U.S., cooling centers have been opened in places like Atlanta and El Paso, where temperatures are expected to soar. Last year, the U.S. experienced the most heat waves since 1936, particularly in the South and Southwest.
The upcoming heat wave will intensify on Sunday, moving eastward and potentially setting daily records. Conversely, parts of Montana are under winter storm watches with possible snowfall on Monday night.
