Multiple Earthquakes Detected off British Columbia Coast

In a rapid sequence, five earthquakes struck off the coast of British Columbia on Wednesday afternoon. The United States Geological Survey reported the first quake, with a magnitude of 4.4, at 12:59 p.m., located 214 kilometers west of Tofino on Vancouver Island. This was followed by a 4.7-magnitude quake 19 minutes later in the same area. Subsequent quakes included a 4.5-magnitude at 1:21 p.m., a 4.3-magnitude at 1:23 p.m., and a 4.0-magnitude at 2:22 p.m. The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirmed that there is no tsunami threat from these events. All earthquakes were recorded at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers.
