New Tornadoes Confirmed in East Texas During Beryl’s Passage
The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed two additional EF-1 tornadoes in East Texas as Tropical Storm Beryl moved through the region on Monday, impacting Harrison and Cass Counties.
The first tornado occurred southwest of Karnack in northeast Harrison County around 2:46 p.m., with peak winds of 107 mph. It traveled approximately 10 miles in 18 minutes, causing significant tree damage but resulting in no injuries.
The second tornado struck near Hughes Springs in southwest Cass County at about 4:08 p.m., traveling 4.24 miles in 8 minutes. This tornado also caused considerable tree and power pole damage but did not result in any injuries.
These confirmations bring the total number of tornadoes in East Texas associated with Tropical Storm Beryl to 13.
