Portland Heat Wave: Relief in Sight?

Portland Faces Prolonged Heat Wave Starting July 4

Portland Enters Prolonged Heat Wave Post-Fourth of July
PORTLAND, Ore. — Following the Fourth of July, the Portland metro area is experiencing a severe heat wave, with temperatures expected to reach or surpass 100 degrees for several consecutive days. KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino predicts the heat wave will last through at least Tuesday, with Monday and Tuesday seeing the highest temperatures around 104 degrees. Record high temperatures have already been set, with Portland hitting 99 degrees, Salem 103, and Hillsboro 100.
Nighttime temperatures will also be unusually high, setting potential records for warmest overnight lows. Although the triple-digit heat is expected to subside after Tuesday, temperatures will remain above average, hovering in the low 90s on Wednesday and staying between 10 to 15 degrees higher than normal for the rest of the week.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the area until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this heat wave. Cooling centers are available for those in need.
