Severe Weather Forces Road Closures in Western Cape
Summary:
In the Western Cape, several roads have been closed due to severe weather conditions. While many have reopened, some remain inaccessible. The Provincial Department of Infrastructure states that damage assessment and repairs will commence once water levels recede. Notably, the MR310, which connects Citrusdal to the N7, is currently overtopped, but Citrusdal is not isolated as alternative routes (DR2183, DR539, and DR1487) remain open. The Gydo Pass is expected to reopen soon. Heavy vehicles are advised to avoid these routes due to low-water bridges. Authorities will monitor conditions and permit one-way traffic when safe.
