Monitoring Invest 93L in the Gulf of Mexico
Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are monitoring Invest 93L in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico for potential development into a tropical depression. As of Sunday at 10 a.m. ET, the low-pressure system is expected to move over the coastline with a slight chance of becoming a tropical depression before going inland. Heavy tropical rain is already impacting areas around and north of Tampico, Mexico, with possible flooding and mudslides in higher elevations. While Mexico needs rain, some areas are experiencing excessive amounts. Satellite imagery shows the Gulf of Mexico and Invest 93L. Drier air is pushing into South Texas, limiting the northern spread of tropical moisture, though minor coastal flooding remains possible. After this disturbance, no new tropical developments are expected in the next week, despite tropical disturbances from Africa spreading across the Atlantic.
