Heat Wave Tied to Climate Change?

Intensifying Heat Waves Linked to Climate Change

In recent weeks, a severe heat wave has killed at least 125 people in Mexico and caused thousands of heatstroke cases. Scientists attribute the intensifying heat waves to climate change driven by greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels. The study, conducted by the World Weather Attribution, highlights record-breaking temperatures in the U.S., Mexico, and Central America. Researchers warn that such extreme heat events, exacerbated by phenomena like heat domes, are becoming more frequent and deadly. The study found that heat waves are now four times more likely than in 2000, with temperatures in June becoming 1.4 degrees hotter, exposing millions to dangerous conditions. Experts agree that climate change is a significant factor in these escalating heat extremes.
