ASEAN Food Systems Sustainability Highlighted in New Report
SINGAPORE, June 14, 2024 – (ACN Newswire) – CropLife Asia and the EU-ASEAN Business Council have jointly published a report titled "Report on ASEAN Food Systems Sustainability," following the ASEAN Food Systems Sustainability Workshop held in Jakarta in November 2023. The report analyzes the challenges and opportunities in Southeast Asia’s agriculture, emphasizing the need for tailored solutions amid global sustainability trends.
Dr. Siang Hee Tan, Executive Director of CropLife Asia, called for national agricultural strategies that balance productivity, environmental protection, and economic viability for smallholder farmers. The report highlights the region’s projected population growth, increasing food demand, and the impact of climate change on agriculture, stressing innovative approaches for a reliable food supply.
